Instead, we have an endless parade of the most insipid rich celebrities and contemporary rich overhyped artists. Sad because some, like ALT, are capable of so much more than trailing after Gwyneth Paltrow as she shops. With very few exceptions, these are not the people challenging and refining fashion.<BR/><BR/>Many have commented that cultural diversity is not achieved by putting Michelle O and Beyonce on the covers, lovely as they are. True enough, so how about more conversations with a WIDE RANGE of designers, artists who haven't already achieved celebrity status, and people who have a demonstrated history in retail and fashion industries. A "World of Interiors" for fashion is what I have in mind. It makes me very sad, and I do not understand the sudden conservatism among people who can well afford to continue to support or even boost their support of the arts and crafts industries in tough times.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
