Fashionista.com is for the undead.

I've tried to go there with an open mind to get a grip on what goes on in the minds of Fashionistas.Try as I might, I can't figure it out. It's part Mick ey Mouse club, silly Model and Bad Ass designer fan clubs, trivial pursuit gameslike, 'Which model reads the dictionary between shows?' My answer to that is, They ALL NEED TO.
I've weighed in on some interesting topics like : why does the earth revolve around the Tents?and what color is black? These are truly tough questions, but I give them my all. Usually I get commented on by others more intelligent than myself with responses like: I find you annoying, I hate your name and I'm sick of you leaving your SPAM site address after each of your comments. These are just incredible to me. But I go back repeatedly in hopes there is something of interest that I can learn from or even contribute a comment that may be enlightening to some or shared by others.
Either way, I have to be grateful to Fashionista.com because many readers have visited my blog as a result of my reading it. I thank you all for your curiosity and indulgence.
What I really hope to gain is knowledge as to what matters , what resonates with the Fashionista of today. She/he is not the same person from 5 years ago, or even 1 year ago. We are all ever changing with interests and passions constantly on the move.
So as much as there are lightweights filling that site, perhaps there's something there worth mining....But I'm probably searching in vain.

I'm so annoyed by the apparently non-moderated mean-spirited comments on Fashionista that I rarely look at it. It's no environment for dialogue. OTR can be tiresome, and I wish some frequent commenters there could corral their thoughts better, but I do see that they remove comments. I always wonder why Cathy doesn't comment more often....

is out of control with silly Gossip girls and the other with wannabe journalists. No moderation on one and an arbitrary vetting process on the other, and the most we get from Cathy( if anything at all are recipes or what she had for breakfast ,lunch or dinner. Mostly, we don't get nuch of anything,it appears the inmates are running the asylum.

I meant to say that Fashionista is out of control.....

Have found your comments a breath of fresh air on fashionista... Glad to now have your blog to visit and am steering well clear of the wannabes that create and read that site; written by a couple of NY girls whose fashion knowledge consists of trips to Barneys, read by a couple of midwest girls whose fashion knowledge consists of trips to Barneys.com.

thanks you guys! I thought I was the only one missing the boat. I thought at worst there's some humor to be gotten there, but they're DEAD SERIOUS about their STUFF. Well I'm no one to stand in judgement, but thanks for your thoughts. I feel less like a subversive kill joy! You both are sweet. Thanks.

I happend upon your blog by way of fashionista because i saw a comment you had left that sounded intelligent and interesting and I'm happy I did! Fashionista isn't much more than the tabloids for the industry, so it's a guilty pleasure for many, but the comments are just generally quite horrible..so negative etc..

I cannot STAND Fashionista! The model/designer fan club worship is embarrasing at best, just plain creepy at worst. The whole site reads like a badly-written online version of Teen Vogue. The one time I tried to weigh in on a subject I felt I had insight on, I was blasted out of the water. Yikes!
