The over-consistency of each look, one after another was deadening. The suits that opened the collection felt like a hybrid of Oscar de la Renta and Chanel. The cocktail dresses that followed were all variations on the same theme. Little tulip skirts with bodices all joined with satin ribbon belts. They were sweet and youthful but all very short, too short for most women other than his gamine models. As lovely as a few were they too were a constant repetition. The feather embellished pieces that followed were all too reminiscent of past Blass and, again, Oscar. They just didn't feel like his.

What did stand out were a pair of dresses with a staple embroidered detail that looked great. Clearly,

Jason's technique is evident in the draping of chiffon looks but again there was a heavy hand at work. Beauty is a fine line that can be easily overstepped. It's all a question of proportion and degree. I wanted to see a collection that's risen to the heights of hype that accompany his every step.
The future will tell. Jason Wu is a rare bird flapping his wings furiously, only there's still precious little lift.

I appreciate that you tell it like you see it!
Unfortunately everything that is done has been done before..even those designers that have a "fresh" and "unique" approach are borrowing..err..being influenced. This is not to say that new designers aren't discovering and expressing themselves but I wish they would realize that they are descovering what has always been worn and will always be worn.
Unfortunately the industry is like the great Oz, all smoke and mirrors and hype but behind the the curtain are a few silhouettes and a bolt of fabric....
well said. I was underwhelm... I saw too many things we have seen before. Yes, he is trying to hard. he should be making mistakes, and that is ok too.
I was totally disappointed by his collection. I only saw maybe three or four looks that looked worthwhile. Everthing else seemed to be so last minute and rushed. Goes to show you that designers can't deliver every season. I was impressed with Christian Siriano's collection, the young man is growing and I see a great future for him.
Some of the designs look like I had seen them before
